hello. if you are reading this, then i am dead. just kidding. we have a blog now! it's something i (zander) have been very excited about for a long time, i used to love posting on twitter but given the current state of it...what's the point anymore. i think it's a tragedy we as a culture aged out of online forums; there's something raw about saying whatever comes to mind on any given topic and offering that insight to a theoretical room of between 0 and like, a billion people that even conventional social media will never truly replicate, in my opinion. anyway, this is our way to reclaim some of the joys of getting on the soapbox and demanding everybody's attention, for better or for worse. if you have no idea what smallboats is, we are a three-piece band from Columbus, OH, and have been playing music together since april of '22. allison stabile plays drums, reagan harris plays bass, and i (zander carter) sing & play piano. we write everything in our home studio which we affectionately call Nervous Wreckords (NRVSWRX). our debut EP Buy Me Flowers is a seven-song story which chronicles the plight of overthinking, learning to be a better person, and hurting yourself and others in the process. in it we explore themes of self-destruction, existential dread, crippling regret, and learned behaviors from our upbringings that make us who we are, for better or for worse. if that sounds interesting to you, please give it a listen. our goal is to challenge the way you see the world, to make you ask questions about yourself and see if you really know the answers. but ultimately we want you to think.
